ten o'clock in Toronto

let me start by saying that i could live in this city. happily.
if someone told me i had to pack everything i own and ship myself off to Toronto, Canada, then i really wouldn't mind. it's one of those cities that just feels good. i've never been able to put my finger on what it is about a city that gives it that feeling, but when i find it, i make sure i soak it in.

Toronto is the home town of my good friend Jesse Dee.
Jesse was living in Barcelona when i was visiting Toronto, but that didn't stop him from helping me out via the web and with his help, i was able to have an awesome time in this city. Even though i was travelling alone, it felt like i had a mate there with me, suggesting ideas for what we'd see and do. A snippet of our fun:

Jesse Dee: "Walk in front of the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum), the building is really cool... No need really to go inside.
Then go see OCAD (Ontario College of Art & Design) up the street. Yorkville has some good shopping also. At Dundas Square they have a half-price ticket thingy for shows too, I think -- (that's my hood). Cheap electronics at Future Shop and Best Buy there also. Have a street hotdog! Ya I think you'll like Queen Street West. Check out Due West & Show Room."
Mitch Fong: "Your Old Town Hall building is incredible. Walking along Yonge Street en route to ROM, then on to OCAD."
Jesse Dee: "My place is actually just around the corner from there... Check out Urban Outfitters also on Yonge Street in front of Eaton Centre... Close to Hard Rock."
Mitch Fong: "This is fun, it's like I'm a remote-controlled tourist! ROM was awesome. Currently walking through Queens Park to get to University Avenue to get to OCAD.
--a few minutes later--
"OK, OCAD - conquered, amazing. Art Gallery of Ontario also impressive! Now walking west along Dundas, headed for Kensington Market. Hoping to demolish a street hotdog on the way."
Jesse Dee: "Get a big one!! There's this really great vegetarian place at corner of Queen/Spadina called "Fresh"... Best warm apple & ginger drink, I think it's called "Liver Flush"... Also get the sweet potato fries; the Urban Cowboy is to die for also."
Mitch Fong: "Kensington Market - conquered. Now, Starbucks-based on Queen St W. after having just browsed through Show Room. Vegetarian place sounds like my dinner destination. Will go there after visiting BlackLine Studio for a few hours. Thanks for your help! It's tattoo time!"

stay tuned, next week: my first ever visit to MELBOURNE!!!

let the good times roll!!
