mykonos -- it's showtiiiiiiii-iiiiiime!

mykonos was my first international holiday since joining the company, and what a perfect way to set the standard for the future holidays to come:
nine days of island living, with three mates, the beach, our scooters, excessive amounts of alcohol, sunburn & suntan, and countless servings of souvlaki...this holiday was like a nine-day advertisement of what a holiday should look like!

it was with a tiny bit of planning and some good fortune that i was able to be on holidays at the same time as Rich and Matt, the two mates who i left australia with, and another of our close mates, Jessica --
and after a few soul-searching question sessions about where we all wanted to go, Mykonos was the place that fit in with everyone's criteria

we met a lot of people on mykonos, and made many special friends -- some people who deserve special mention are of course Ray & Benny, Gio & Savva, Krste, Phillip & Josh (why don't i have any photos of you two?) and a few others who we won't forget, but for completely different reasons hahaha! i know that we'll definitely see some of those whom i just mentioned, and i certainly hope i have the good fortune to see all you again some time in the future -- (same time, same place next year guys?!)
a big thank you to Rich who went two days ahead of us and sorted out our accommodation! (and at such a killer cheap price too!)

there are a whole massive bunch of photos in this blog entry, so i'm gonna try and keep the text to a minimum so that anyone reading this doesn't get too overloaded!

and to my dear mum and dad, i can't really explain this weird phenomenon, but in some of the photos it would appear that at times i'm riding a motorbike without a helmet on -- it must be some weird visual illusion, maybe the light from the sun bounced on the camera at a strange angle -- cos you know you raised me better than that and i would never do anything as foolish as riding a motorbike shirtless and without a helmet on, right?! nor would i ride a bike one-handed whilst taking photos with the other hand -- love you!)

our adventures in mykonos:
never wake up before midday . when finally crawling out of our beds, walk to the local store, buy our bottle of water and jump on our bikes and head out to Elia Beach . spend the entire lazing on the sand or in pristine waters, never leaving the beach before the sun showed signs of going to bed . a quick shower and it's up to a bar called Elysium for cocktails and to watch the most glorious sunset you have ever seen (or may ever see for that matter -- not that i was able to capture a photo of it that does it any justice) . from Elysium it's off to dinner somewhere (our nightly meals seemed to be the only time we showed any sort of creativity in deviating from our daily itinerary) . and from dinner it's on to a club called Pierro's, where it truly becomes "SHOWTIIIIIIIIII-IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIME!!!!" . party until sun up, which still isn't a good enough reason for us to go home to bed . at sun up, feel like you may honestly die if you don't find a souvlaki vendor in the next five minutes, and end up stumbling across to the other side of the town to find one . now it's bed-time, sleep till midday, do it all over again . experience what you feel to be an actual form of depression when it comes time to leave this amazing place, we just weren't there for long enough -- i'll be back for you Mykonos, you're not getting away from me that easily!

stay tuned, next week: NEW YORK CITY!!!

let the good times roll!!
