one night in bangkok

These photos are from so long ago, that I can barely remember what we got up to.

bangkok was the first city, many years ago, that I ever travelled to as an adult and without adult supervision, and because of that, it holds a special appeal for me.

Where other people find this place to be dirty, and loud, and smelly, for me it's all those things plus a whole lotta fun, and FREEDOM. Maybe someone who has ever lived in this city would think otherwise, but Bangkok gives me the feeling that absolutely anything goes here. No one bats an eyelid at a lady boy serving you breakfast, and if you want to get a tattoo at 3am while simultaneously drinking booze from a bucket and munching on fried grass-hoppers...well, that's all OK, too.

On this particular trip, I had the pleasure of being alongside the delicious Anna Fisher as we roamed around this city.

It comes as no surprise to anyone to learn that travelling is always so much more fun when accompanied by a good friend, and this trip was no exception. Anna had never been to any of the typical touristic attractions in Bangkok, so we took in as many sights as we could in the short time that we were there. I can't remember all of them, but by looking back at the photos, there's definitely a river boat ride, the Reclining Buddha, and something that might've been called The Golden Mount (I know I know, I sound just like a Lonely Planet Guide book)

Anna and I met an amazing(ly) old woman, she must've been over 100 years old, and she didn't speak a word of English but she just smiled when I motioned like I wanted to take her picture. I've met models who had less poise and grace in front of a camera. So, here are all the photos:

stay tuned, next week: ATHENS!!!

let the good times roll!!
