"go on, just ask me, i'll point it out. easy"
however, it seems this boasting was somewhat premature...given that my confidence in this area was based on the fact that i regularly played a geography game that i thought included all the countries in the world.
turns out, it didn't.
so when i came to dubai, i started becoming friends with people from a place called Malta, and i had no idea if it was a city, or a country or it's own planet, and forget about being able to point to it on an unmarked map!
so it is with great pride that i can report my education in this area by actually visiting Malta.
my Maltese friends are such a great bunch of people, that i was so so excited to see their country, and i'd only ever heard great things about it, and i'm happy to be able to now be able to also say nice things about the place when i talk about it.
another massive bonus about this trip was that i had my good mate Jonnie working the flight with me, so we got to discover Malta together, AND our other mate Matthew was in Malta, home on his annual leave, so he was able to show us around.
so a big thanks to Jonnie and Matt and Ian and all the other guys and girls who took us under their wing and took us partying on this island famous for it's nightlife.
i haven't included the party photos on this blog entry, they were posted on facebook months ago -- my 9-year old nephew reads this blog, and doesn't need to see his uncle dancing shirtless on a pole in a room full of similarly clothed people (even if he already does sometimes call me "Aunty Mitch" [and not that i would EVER actually dance shirtless on a pole])
so these photos focus on the beauty of Malta, and less on its (albeit rockin') nightlife.
enjoy:
stay tuned, next week: CAPE TOWN!!!
let the good times roll!!
