viva italia

gosh. this post is about eight months overdue -- these photos were taken in August '08 during a two week holiday i shared with natalie throughout italy

and i mean, normally i'd love to write something about the wonderful places we visited and the incredible things we saw -- and please don't think for one second that just because i haven't written about them that we didn't visit wonderful places and see some incredible things, lord knows we did -- but there is just a freakin' insane amount of photos to publish here, so i'm keeping all words to an absolute minimum.

a massive thanks to natalie for sharing this experience with me -- anyone who's been following this blog earlier may know that i've dreamt of visiting italy properly since an early age, so i'm glad i had a great mate right there next to me when i finally got my chance.

so while i would never apologise for the sheer volume of images in these pages, i also would never expect you to look at them all -- there really are some beautiful things in these images that i've tried humbly to capture for your viewing pleasure, but i fear that nothing i could ever do could really capture the brilliance of Michelangelo's David; or what sunset looks like in Positano after you've just stuffed yourself stupid with pizza; no photo i could take could really portray how, no matter how many people do it, you'll still probably feel stupid pretending to be "supporting" the Leaning Tower of Pisa; and i certainly cannot photograph how good a pasta can taste when made fresh for you by a stranger who quickly became a friend, gracefully opening his home to natalie and me simply because his friend wrote him to tell him we were coming to his city -- our gratitude is massive, Andreas, thank you xx

ok, no more words, i promise -- even if you can't be bothered looking at all the photos, just scroll through really quick, it'll be like a fun little short film about two aussies eating their way through italy:

stay tuned, next week: a Parisian getaway with my boys!!

let the good times roll!!
