in the beginning

[insert any other language device here that makes me look more worldy and more well-travelled than i actually am]

well alright, here we go!
welcome to my page!

a page that i've set up so that my family and friends can have a one-stop shop to find out where i am in the world and what i'm up to

i'll be posting a blog entry from every city that i fly to with my new job as cabin crew -- in the hopes of:

a) keeping a journal of my adventures as i fly around this crazy world of ours
b) letting my family/friends know i'm safe and enjoying myself
and
c) giving you, the reader, a little insight into the fascinating world of serving chicken or fish at 30,000 feet -- wow, bored already? me too!!!

and i guess if i'm being honest, there's also:
d) posting one blog entry that everyone can view means that i don't have to individually email people; laziness prevails!!
(c'mon, it means more time for me to be in the streets exploring a foreign city, and less time with my ass parked in front of my laptop -- not that i don't love emailing, and not that i don't love my laptop, and not that i don't love speaking with each and every single one of you individually, and not that i....well, you get my drift)

ok, so now that the purpose of this page has been established, i guess i better start blogging:

my time in this country is coming to end,
and with that brings an absolute proverbial rollercoaster of emotions:
- i'm simultaneously so incredibly excited at the prospect of my new life based in Dubai, and so incredibly sad at the prospect of leaving behind my family and friends
- stoked that i'll now be seeing so much of this world, but real bummed that australia won't be my physical home -- obviously australia will always be my home, but i won't be living here for a while
- insanely curious to see how much shopping i can get done in international cities, whilst at the same time wondering how long it will be before i'm back buying groceries at my local woolworths here in newcastle, australia
- etc. etc. and so on and so forth; add your own examples here of me being completely shit-scared whilst being totally chomping-at-the-bit to get over to The Middle East to start my training and get righteously freakin' AIRBORNE!!!!

at this stage, i'm sixteen days away from my date of departure out of Australia, and my preparation for this event is somewhat lacking;
lacking in the way that i haven't done A SINGLE THING about readying myself for the occasion!
but is there a guide somewhere about what one needs to put into suitcase in order to give themselves the best chance at survival in The Middle East and the world beyond?
i'm sure there'd be such a guide somewhere, but i'm a lazy person, and i haven't stumbled across it yet, and obviously i haven't gone looking for the aforementioned guide
well, i mean, i have ASKED you guys if there is such a guide, that qualifies as looking for it, right?

and that's it for my first blog entry here at ComeFlyWithMe, i hope i haven't bored you into never coming back to visit this page...

i put a lot of pressure on myself to make this first blog entry an especially rivetting one (which, i ain't fooling myself, i did a poor job of doing) due to the power of first impressions and all that, but then i realised that i guess this blog only gets exciting when i get airborne and start seeing the world
so then there was no more pressure, and i can relax, cos this blog entry only needed to establish the purpose of the entire blog....and well, i succeeded at that!

let the good times roll!!
